About DIRI
The Diana International Research Institute (DIRI) is an award-winning global research institute dedicated to advancing rigorous, theory-driven scholarship on women’s entrepreneurship, venture growth, and access to finance. Building on more than two decades of international collaboration through the Diana International Research Conference, DIRI convenes leading scholars from across disciplines and countries to produce high-impact research that shapes academic debate and informs policy conversations worldwide. Known for its intellectual leadership, strong mentoring culture, and commitment to methodological rigor, DIRI has played a central role in reframing how scholars and policymakers understand growth, innovation, and institutional barriers affecting women-led ventures. Through its global network of over 300 active scholars and an evidence-based approach, DIRI continues to elevate research excellence while strengthening the bridge between scholarship and real-world impact.
For over two decades, the DIRI scholarly community has shaped the global research agenda on women’s entrepreneurship — particularly venture growth, access to finance, institutional barriers, and ecosystem design. DIRI builds on this foundation as a global research institute dedicated to advancing rigorous, theory-driven, cross-national scholarship.
Despite the strength of the evidence base, a persistent gap remains between academic research and policy implementation. High-quality research often circulates within scholarly communities but does not consistently reach policymakers at moments when entrepreneurship strategies, innovation frameworks, and funding systems are being redesigned.
For example, women’s entrepreneurship is frequently framed as a participation issue. DIRI’s research highlights a deeper structural challenge: growth constraints embedded in financing systems, institutional design, and ecosystem dynamics.
This initiative addresses that gap. By aligning rigorous scholarship with timely policy engagement, this initiative contributes to more effective, inclusive, and economically productive entrepreneurship systems.
